Kumpo School
'Ava's Garden' was set up by Louisa Bishop, one of our consultants at Niche Nannies. After volunteering at Kumpo School in the Masai Mara and seeing how little the children had to eat and drink, she decided to establish a school garden to help feed the school.
There had been a garden previously, but wild donkeys had broken the fence and destroyed it — and there were no funds to rebuild it. With the help of family and friends, Louisa set about changing that.
We would like to replicate this project in other schools across the Masai — providing fresh food, clean water, and the lifelong skill of growing their own produce.
The project is named 'Ava's Garden' in dedication to Louisa's daughter Ava — a miracle baby born at 27 weeks in February 2017 — and was completed with family and friends to celebrate her 1st birthday.
Foundation
The Inima Pentru Inima Foundation is a Romanian registered charity run by Mrs. Lidia Dobre since 1997. Having watched this organisation grow, Silvie has found their journey deeply inspiring and believes strongly in the purpose and direction of their work.
This Foundation has been developing loving communities for abandoned children and young adults from Romanian orphanages for over 25 years — 2,500 individuals have benefited so far, and 890 children have found a home within their residential communities.
Niche Nannies are looking forward to seeing further developments within this Foundation. We will be visiting to lend a hand and become part of the giving and supporting team for these children — many of whom have never experienced what it is to have a family, be loved, educated, and cared for. The knowledge that we are in a position to help others is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling experience.
